Sporting Braga have signed defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha from Sporting Lisbon, with the 23-year-old joining on a two-year loan deal.

Braga have decided to announce the deal with yet another clever clip, this time referencing classic eighties TV show ‘Miami Vice’.

Although our less-aged readers might see it as a nod to iconic video game ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’…

Slick, with just the right amount of knowing cheese.

Crockett and Tubbs give it the thumbs-up!

As for the deal itself, it’s rather strange, with Sporting Lisbon able to call back the player after a year for a fee, while if Braga sell him within the next two years, Braga themselves are entitled to a percentage of that fee.

Also, Braga have an exclusive buyout option. So there.

  1. SL says:

The thing is that the player is called “Palhinha”, that in portuguese means “straw”…

  2. Sergio says:

The other fellow asks for a straw in portuguese, which literally translates as Palhinha, the player’s last name. Thta what makes the joke so… mildly adequate.
