West Brom’s magnificently awful season has just sunk another notch after the club confirmed that four senior players have been suspended over an “incident” which occurred during a team trip to Barcelona this week.
In a bid to arrest his team’s dire form, Alan Pardew decided a warm-weather training break might do his waning players the power of good. Sadly, the excursion seems to have had quite the opposite effect.
Indeed, reports in the Spanish press have it that the foursome responsible were pissed up to the nines when they stole a taxi from outside a hotel and proceeded to embark on a joy-ride around the city in the early hours of the morning.
In a brief statement issued via their official website, the Baggies confirmed that an internal investigation is already underway:
The club can confirm that four senior players were involved in an incident during this week’s mid-winter training trip to Spain.
The club has instigated its own investigation into the incident and the players will be subject to the full rigours of our internal disciplinary procedures.
Until such time as that investigation has been completed, the club will not be making any further comment.
Need we remind you that West Brom are currently flat bottom of the Premier League, seven points adrift and have only one league win to their name since Pardew took over in November.
The club also took the unorthodox step of sacking their own chairman a few days because results and performances have been so utterly abysmal.
With this latest idiotic caper, things really did you go from bad to exponentially worse.
