Bellerin and Walcott: Like sh*t off a shovel

Haven’t you heard? Hector Bellerin is THE FASTEST MAN IN THE WORLD™…well sort of, anyway.

The nonsense all began last August, when it emerged that Bellerin had shaved a few tenths of a second off Theo Walcott’s club dash record, clocking an undoubtedly impressive 40-metre time of just 4.42 seconds.

That seemed to be the end of the story, but a few days ago it was dredged up in the national press once again when “new data” proved that Bellerin’s 40-metre split was faster than that managed by Usain Bolt when the chicken-nugget-powered Jamaican sprinter broke the world 100m record at the World Championships in 2009.

You can see where this is going can’t you? Obviously, we now have unequivocal evidence that Hector Bellerin is THE FASTEST MAN IN THE WORLD™.

Whether or not Bolt was starting from dead zero while hunched down in the blocks is entirely irrelevant it would seem.

Any road up, in a bid to debunk the spurious claims once and for all, British sprint champion Richard Kilty has challenged both Bellerin and Walcott to a sprint-off.

Indeed, he’s so serious about proving the “moronic” reports wrong that he’s willing to lay £30,000 of his own money on the line…

Good Lord, we hope Bellerin and Walcott don’t actually dignify all this with a response.
