With Birmingham in town for the FA Cup third round, Football Focus had a nosey around Blyth Spartans’ Croft Park ground before the game, with host Dan Walker stumbling across the non-league side’s list of fines in the corridor.
While some of the punishments are very reasonable (£2 for taking a leak in the showers seems like a bargain), elsewhere the club’s true priorities are laid bare for all to see.
Should a Blyth player miss or turn up late for a match, a fine of £5 is levied. Should that same player then opt out of a team night out, the fine is doubled to a hefty £10!
Some harsh punishments in there, but not nearly as harsh as Arsenal’s in-house penal system – with the Gunners fining players £100 for reading newspapers in the dressing room.
