Having found himself slung upon the attacking midfielder stockpile, Hatem Ben Arfa last turned out for Paris Saint Germain over a year ago in a Coupe de France match against third-tier Avranches on 5th April, 2017.

So, to mark the anniversary of his last appearance, the forgotten winger threw himself a sarcastic little celebration which he documented on Instagram.

“Happy birthday to me. One year without playing calls for a party!”

Joyeux anniversaire à moi , 1 an de placard ça se fête 😅

Ben Arfa, who recently turned 31, hasn’t exactly done himself many favours when it comes to his working relationship with head coach Unai Emery.

Indeed, the former Newcastle and Marseille man has reportedly refused multiple arranged transfers to the likes of Nice and Fenerbahce, while France Football claimed that, last year, he also openly informed his arch-nemesis Emery that he couldn’t reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, even with “the best team in the world”.

Talented player; detrimental attitude; prone to tantrums; barely-concealed-but-ever-present victim complex and now the wrong side of 30 to boot.

He’s hardly selling himself. Is he even worth the hassle any more?
