Just as the prophecy foretold, Lionel Messi has just been crowned as the 2015 Ballon d’Or winner at the glitzy (and painfully bloated) award ceremony in Zurich.

So that’s Ballon d’Or number five for Messi. The numbers are just totally abstract these days. The man is a phenomenon.
Proving the FIFA website leak wasn’t really kosher, the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year award went to Carli Lloyd, who scored a hat-trick for the US in the final of the Women’s World Cup. What a year, capped off in fitting style.

The two FIFA 2015 Coach of the Year awards went to Barcelona gaffer Luis Enrique and US women’s coach Jill Ellis. Fair enough. One won a World Cup, the other won just about everything else.
Wendell Lira won the Puskas Award for his stupendous overhead kick against Atletico-GO…
Nice.
