Red Bull Salzburg pulled off the result of the night across Thursday eve’s various Europa League games, beating Ajax 3-0 in Amsterdam to give themselves a more-than-decent chance of progressing through to the last 16 come the second leg at the Red Bull Arena in a week’s time.
Red Bull had the scoring wrapped up inside 35 minutes, with former Barcelona B striker Jonatan Soriano opening proceedings from the penalty spot after quarter-of-an-hour, before Sadio Mané doubled their lead just seven minutes later.
Soriano then returned to score the Austrian side’s third, hoofing an arching blunderbuss over Ajax ‘keeper Jasper Cillessen and in from the bloody half-way line…
Nicely done, that man. You just know Xabi Alonso got a hot flush in his crotch the second that went in.
