In what may just become a semi-regular series here on Pies, we thought we’d pay homage to all those fantastic goals scored down through history which have immediately found themselves cruelly struck from the annals over a piffling offside decision, etc.
We’re going to kick off the series with a timely inaugural inductee, being as it was scored by Southampton’s new £15million man Pablo Daniel Osvaldo during his time at Roma – specifically against Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico back in November of 2011.
And a true stunner it was – or “wasn’t” as the case may be, as it was quickly chalked off by the officials due to a phantom offside spotted in the build up…
All that flair, all that gumption, all that technique, perfect execution and absolutely nada to show for it!
Tough formaggio, Pabbles.
