Hearty congrats go out to Shamrock Rovers, who became the first Irish side ever in the history of ever to reach the group stages of any European tournament by beating Partizan Belgrade 2-1 AET in Serbia last night – thus booking themselves a place in the Europa League group stage.
After drawing 1-1 at the Tallaght last week, Partizan went 1-0 up on the night through Vladimir Volkov, but a truly astounding long-range volley from Patrick Sullivan levelled the tie with Stephen O’Donnell’s 113th-minute penalty ensuring a 3-2 aggregate victory for the Dublin-based minnows…
