Everton 2-2 Newcastle United – Premier League – 17th September 2012
Newcastle came from behind twice against Everton at Goodison, to claim a share of the points. Demba Ba was the star man for the Magpies, netting a second-half brace after coming on as a sub.
Prior to the game, Everton paid tribute to the 96 victims of the Hillsborough tragedy after last week’s momentous developments.
In-form Leighton Baines opened the scoring on 15 minutes as Newcastle struggled to get a foothold in the game. However, the introduction of Ba changed the game, with the Senegal star netting the equaliser early in the second-half.
Everton sub Victor Anichebe then thought he had scored, only for ref Mike Jones to fail to see that ball had crossed the line. However, the Everton striker did eventually put the home side 2-1 up on 88 minutes. But once again, Ba struck to level the scores in what was a highly entertaining game.
