Looking dapper from his napper to his feet, Steven Gerrard was officially unveiled as an LA Galaxy player during the half-time break of his new side’s July 4th match against Toronto.

Gerrard took to the pitch halfway through Galaxy’s 4-0 win to introduce himself and tell everybody that he can’t wait to get his boots on and start playing, etc, etc.

In a shrewd bit of PR manoeuvring, Gerrard wasted no time ingratiating himself with the local Galaxy supporters groups by plying the LA Riot Squad (as well as the club’s two other main fan collectives) with a shed load of complimentary beer before the game…

The accompanying note reads thus:

LA Riot Squad,

Even though I’ve yet to wear an LA Galaxy jersey, I am excited for the opportunity to play in front of LARS and earn your respect.

Supporters are the lifeblood of any club and I know that with your support we’ll challenge for MLS Cup again.

As a token of my appreciation for what you do for the club, I wanted to provide you with the refreshments for the 4th of July.

I look forward to meeting you at tonight’s match.

Respectfully,

Steven Gerrard

Hell of a charm offensive! Nice touch Mr G, nice touch.

There’s a girl that’s been on my mind, all the time, Sussudio oh oh.

  2. Jarren says:

Nice touch from Gerrard as you say.

I’m sure he’ll do well, especially if he can link up properly with Keane.

Galaxy really throttled Toronto last night, looking forward to seeing them with some extra influence in midfield.

Ah, so that’s why the Galaxy fans think he’s nicer than David Beckham. Becks obviously never got a round in. Go team etc etc…
