Word on Rumour Street is that Joe Cole has agreed to play for Arsenal next season. Reports claim the Chelsea midfielder met with Gunner people earlier this week, and that he is set to move to north London on a free transfer after the World Cup, with a three-year contract tucked into his shorts. How much will be be on? I’d guess around £80k a week.
Looks like Monsieur Wenger has decided that it’s time to stop messing about with kids – ahem – and make some proper signings. I didn’t predict he would go for a player like Cole, but the prospect of signing an England international on a free transfer must have been too much for the tight-fisted Frenchman to resist.
