I watched the Europa League final in a pub in south London. Engrossed by Fulham’s efforts, I totally missed the brilliant action in south Wales. By the time I realised the TV at the other end of the boozer was showing Cardiff vs Leicester, it was already 3-2 to the visitors, with extra time looming. Oh well.
I watched the penalty shoot-out though. Both sets of players did a great job until French forward Yann Kermorgant stepped up for Leicester and… chipped it softly towards the goal. Yikes!! Cardiff keeper David Marshall stuck out a hand and made a fairly easy save. Kermorgant will forever wonder what might have happened had he blasted it. Cute works brilliantly when it comes off. When it doesn’t, you might as well be wearing massive clown shoes and a big red nose.
To digress somewhat, I’m a big fan of Leicester’s away kit. That sash is straight-up South American. Nice.
So it’s Cardiff vs Blackpool for a place in the Prem. Cardiff will win that one, 3-1. That’s my hunch. Yours?
