Granted the club has only been in existence for five minutes so talk of all-time records is a little premature, but Frank Lampard took just 48 seconds to score the fastest goal in New York City FC’s brief history against DC United last night.

Lampard took less than a minute to score his third goal in four games for NYCFC, cleaning up after David Villa’s shot had come back off the DC ‘keeper…

GIF version, just in case…

Sadly, Lampard’s quick-fire opener wasn’t enough to prevent NYCFC from going down 2-1 at the Robert F Kennedy Memorial Stadium, with late goals from Fabian Espindola and Alvaro Sarborio (in the 92nd minute, no less) resigning the boys from the Big Apple to defeat.
