Taking time out from his hectic schedule as an international drug baron, Pablo Escobar helped himself to a couple of superb goals as Bolivia and Ecuador hammered out a 2-2 draw in their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening.

Bolivia went in 2-0 up at half-time thanks to Escobar’s early brace – the first of which came just three minutes in when the midfielder absolutely walloped one into the top corner from all of 25 yards…

If his first was good, his second was arguably better – Escobar squeezing through the Ecuadorian defence like he was wriggling through an escape tunnel below a maximum security penitentiary before cracking a shot past Esteban Dreer…

Lovely. We imagine an entirely random drug test followed swiftly after the final whistle.

For the record, Ecuador eventually came roaring back to rescue the point thanks to two goals from known-fugitive Enner Valencia.

By ‘eck, the story-line for the new season of Narcos is bloody bizarre.
