We recently reported that Premiership legend and Scouse deity, Robbie Fowler, was having trouble finding a new club to ply his goal-poaching trade. Well, it seems all is not completely lost, as lowly League One club, Port Vale have made a cheeky attempt to sign his services. -

Rafa Benitez seems rather keen on bringing Argentine left-back Gabriel Heinze to Anfield. All well and good – Heinze is a quality defender who always gives his best. One small problem though: he currently plays for Man Utd and traditionally Liverpool and Man Utd don’t tend to buy players from each other. It’s a hate thing.

Farewell Luis Garcia: we will miss you

Because he sucked his thumb after he scored and wore a girly hairband, Luis Garcia was portrayed as the archetypal fancy foreign player. Okay, so he did give the ball away a bit too often, but I think he’s an underrated player and he always seemed to score crucial goals, most notably the cracker against Juventus in the Champions League in 2005, the year Liverpool won the trophy. Most Liverpool fans love him unconditionally and will be very sad to see him go to Atletico Madrid next season. Here’s a YouTube video tribute to Luis…

Peter Crouch is off to Spain

Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch could follow Thierry Henry to Spain if Atletico Madrid get their way. The Spanish outfit want to bring Crouch to La Liga as part of any deal that takes Fernando Torres to Anfield. The Daily Star reports that Real’s city rivals would love the lump the ball up to the 6ft 7in striker.

Rumours linking Robbie Fowler with a move to the US have been knocking around for a while, but it has now emerged that he has been in talks with LA Galaxy over a possible deal. The News of the World reported that David Beckham’s new club had failed to tempt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the States, but were more hopeful of securing Fowler’s services.

Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher sign new deals at Liverpool. Calm down, calm down!

Token Scousers Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have extended their contracts at Anfield until 2011. The pair have wasted no time in committing to Liverpool’s new American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. Carragher, aged 29, said: “Yerrrrrrm, I am very pleased. Obviously we are both local lads and I’ve always said I wanted to stay here for the rest of my career.”
