  We recently reported that Premiership legend and Scouse deity, Robbie Fowler, was having trouble finding a new club to ply his goal-poaching trade. Well, it seems all is not completely lost, as lowly League One club, Port Vale have made a cheeky attempt to sign his services.

  Following yesterday’s news that Jamie Carragher was considering his international future, the Liverpool defender rang up radio station TalkSport to respond to criticism about him. A very unhappy Mr Carragher rang the station to dismiss accusations he was a ‘bottler’.

• Liverpool bid for Babel July 9th, 2007 Arsenal

  Liverpool have apparently made a bid for Dutch U-21 star Ryan Babel. The Ajax forward is rated as the brightest young prospect in Dutch football by none other than Marco van Basten and has already been linked to Arsenal and Newcastle – whadyareckon?

  Rafa Benitez seems rather keen on bringing Argentine left-back Gabriel Heinze to Anfield. All well and good – Heinze is a quality defender who always gives his best. One small problem though: he currently plays for Man Utd and traditionally Liverpool and Man Utd don’t tend to buy players from each other. It’s a hate thing.

• Fernando Torres plays keepy-up with a hand grenade July 3rd, 2007 Liverpool

  So here’s a vid of an advert in which Liverpool-bound Fernando Torres (how sweet that must sound to Reds fans) plays keepy-up with a hand grenade. After that, you can check out a music video, by Spanish pop band El Canto Del Loco, featuring a guest appearance by Torres.
  

• Farewell Luis Garcia: we will miss you July 3rd, 2007 Liverpool

  Because he sucked his thumb after he scored and wore a girly hairband, Luis Garcia was portrayed as the archetypal fancy foreign player. Okay, so he did give the ball away a bit too often, but I think he’s an underrated player and he always seemed to score crucial goals, most notably the cracker against Juventus in the Champions League in 2005, the year Liverpool won the trophy. Most Liverpool fans love him unconditionally and will be very sad to see him go to Atletico Madrid next season. Here’s a YouTube video tribute to Luis…

• Peter Crouch is off to Spain June 25th, 2007 Liverpool

  Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch could follow Thierry Henry to Spain if Atletico Madrid get their way. The Spanish outfit want to bring Crouch to La Liga as part of any deal that takes Fernando Torres to Anfield. The Daily Star reports that Real’s city rivals would love the lump the ball up to the 6ft 7in striker.

• Robbie Fowler in talks to join Becks at LA Galaxy June 11th, 2007 Liverpool

  Rumours linking Robbie Fowler with a move to the US have been knocking around for a while, but it has now emerged that he has been in talks with LA Galaxy over a possible deal. The News of the World reported that David Beckham’s new club had failed to tempt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the States, but were more hopeful of securing Fowler’s services.

• Xabi Alonso signs new Liverpool contract June 8th, 2007 Liverpool

  Some good news for Liverpool after last week’s shocker – Xabi Alonso has signed a new deal with the club. The 25-year-old midfielder had been linked with a move back to his native Spain, has he has now committed to Liverpool until 2012.

• Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher sign new deals at Liverpool. Calm down, calm down! June 4th, 2007 Liverpool

  Token Scousers Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have extended their contracts at Anfield until 2011. The pair have wasted no time in committing to Liverpool’s new American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. Carragher, aged 29, said: “Yerrrrrrm, I am very pleased. Obviously we are both local lads and I’ve always said I wanted to stay here for the rest of my career.”

  1 AC Milan shouldn’t have been in the competition to begin with – they were initially kicked out for their part in the Italian match-fixing scandal.

• Carlo Ancelotti: Steven Gerrard is talking ‘bollocks’ May 22nd, 2007 Liverpool

  AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has accused Steven Gerrard of talking ‘bollocks’ ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League final in Athens. Gerrard famously claimed Milan prematurely celebrated victory at half-time in the 2005 final when they led Liverpool 3-0.
